i love this book. LOVE. IT. it totally reminds me of one of my favourite canadian kid's shows growing up, jeremy the bear. this show RULED. it was a combination of stop motion and cell drawn animation and looked very similar to the scenes in this book. i remember my favourite bits were when jeremy would ice skate on winter lakes made of aluminum foil... gold. you can watch a bit of jeremy here, it's pretty damn awesome.
Hello there, love your blog! You're right - that jacket is just so cute it's ridiculous! Can I tell you that I want that Ugly Duckling book, it's adorable. Thirft on!
ReplyDeleteRight, that's it, I'm stalking you next time you go op-shopping.
ReplyDeleteohhh good haul!
ReplyDeletethe tupperware is called a pick-a-deli! I use mine for beetroot, canned corn etc!!!! good find! they had to bring back the retro style because everyone wanted it!
Corrie;)
LOving your op-shop finds. My two were pretty much dressed from charity shops when they were wee. Sadly it all starts to tail off a bit when they get to late toddlerdom/early school years as kids don;t manage to outgrow their clothes before wearing them out. (le sigh. I kinda miss those days)
ReplyDeletei haven't been able to get that old-style tupperware container , it's such a beauty. that's a great find!
ReplyDeleteAnd the book looks gorgeous!
Great scores! Tupperware have a round pick-a deli now, I use them for olives and feta cheese, we used our square ones for tinned beetroot when I was a kid (yuk!). Now I use these ones for tinned fruit for dessert. Ihave a SNow White book the same style as the Ugly Duckling one if you want to start a collection......go Sesame st, I have about 100 old ones, they are the best!
ReplyDeletefabulous!
ReplyDeleteI have a Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty book (also printed in Japan) similar to the Ugly Duckling one you found. I love them so much!
Vintage Sesame street books rock. I found 4 for 50 cents recently. Yay!
It's so much fun to go a thrifting! Thanks for sharing!
I use my tupperware container for beetroot too and my daughter loves it as it is so easy to just pick out a slice without gettin covered in beet juice. Those clothes are amazing, what a wonderful op shop you have.
ReplyDeleteJeremy was definitely a T.V. staple for me, too. I loved all of the sets, and of course, the theme song is forever stamped in my memory!
ReplyDeleteAlso, how jealous am I of the Fisher Price projector? What a sweet find!
How come I never find stuff like this when I second-hand shop? I think you have some sort of magic power.
Leslie, I have some movies!!!
ReplyDeleteand a projector too. I will keep the movies for you and give them to you when you come. i think i'll give the projector to Sarah... hopefully there are more movies to be had. i got mine at the Old Strathcona Antique Mall, $3 a piece! i recently saw a wall projector for those old movies but it didn't seem to work. could have been just a bulb burnt out but sadly, my patience is too thin to tolerate broken Value Village toys.
have you looked in my bookshop on etsy? i will happily let you pick through my giant stash... i have hundreds at home too.
also, i have other books like the ugly duckling one... jack in the beanstalk and one or 2 more...
ReplyDeleteme too with Jeremy... what about Hammy Hampster? live action with guinea pigs etc.... do you remember that one?
Good score! that raincoat is ridiculously cute. And the book....awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing haul! Great clothes.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have one of those tupperware containers - it always held beetrrot - what a funny memory- thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am utterly convinced you have special oppy powers! I continue to be gobsmacked by the finds! Gorgeous ball from Christie...
ReplyDeleteWe used to have that ugly duckling book when we were small!! So cute. What a cute reminder.
ReplyDeleteYou sure did score, and more! So many great pieces.
Little Mae is just divine.
OOh I had a collection of those Japanese picture books when I was little, when I saw your Ugly Duckling the images called me straight back to the seventies. I love it.
ReplyDeletewhat a good eye you have! LOVE the vintage Japanese Ugly Duckling Book - beautiful.
