clearout::giveaway
i keep meaning to take pics of the sewing room... when it's clean. but let's face it, i'm always going to have piles of fabric everywhere, the ironing board is up 90% of the time and i may never get around to filling up my inspiration board (i have a pile of things to go on it, just no tacks) so this is just how it is : )
i bought a bookcase for mae's room on ebay the last week only to find that it doesn't quite fit where i had intended it to go. shane had picked it up in 40ÂșC weather and so wasn't too impressed, especially as i am notorious for not reading instructions/doing things impulsively and he'd asked me if i'd measured the space. i did... but obviously not well enough. anyway, i saved the day by saying i could use it in the sewing room as i was just using super cheap pine shelving in there and had always wanted something a bit nicer. long story short, i had to haul all my fabric off it's existing shelves, which led to some lengthy reorganising when i put it into the new ones. time to be a bit brutal with the fabric, time to be honest about what i will and will not use, time to find new homes for the fabric i will probably never get around to using. so, i've got two big bundles of vintage fabric to send anywhere in australia (sorry overseas readers but the postage would be insane to send this anywhere else). it's pretty much all vintage sheeting or pillowcases, with the odd handkerchief thrown in. just leave a comment over the next few days and i will draw a couple of names on february 1st. here's what is up for grabs:
::bundle one::
::bundle two::
::update:: entries for the giveaway are now closed, i'll post the lucky recipients later today. and, for the people who asked about the inspiration board, it's made of a material called Krommenie, cut to size and then painted by my husband. he got it from work so i have no idea where you can buy it retail in australia - maybe bunnings?

They look fabulous! I hope I win!
ReplyDeleteoh my.. i think i'm in love with bundle #1! thanks for having this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to let go of good vintage fabric - but I would love to take bundle #2 if I win - love that top piece of fabric in photo 1 of bundle 2!!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric. The quilt you just posted about and all of your creations are so beautiful and simple. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteI would love one of the bundles, I am starting one of your playmats now, with the pattern from Homespun, so would love some more fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt, too
I won't say no!
ReplyDeleteI am hopeless at measuring things, I hate measuring things, so you're not alone with them being a little shoddy! Good news you could use the shelves in your craft room!
ReplyDeleteLoving both bundles! Such pretty colours.
Absolutely cannot resist a fabric giveaway, thanks for being so generous!
ReplyDeleteSign me up too!
ReplyDeleteLove those yellows! I actually have a question about your inspiration board - did you make it? It looks a not standard and nicely large size. I have been looking for materials after fronting up to Bunnings last weekend naively assuming I could buy a big piece of cork board - no go! And online sources seem to recommend "homasote" but I've never seen this in Melbs. Any tips? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou sound just like me in terms of not checking things correctly and my boyfriend getting annoyed. I do it all the time!
ReplyDeleteoh please! count me in. your sewing room is great btw. i would love to have a space that big!
ReplyDeletegosh, both bundles are great, but bundle 2 is very nice indeed. How fortunate for someone else that that bookcase didn't fit!
ReplyDeletesewing room looks fabulous...lovely fabric in the giveaway, I have just started collecting some vinatage sheets myself after you inspired me with your gorgeous vintage sheet quilt, although I only have one so far..lol!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I'm about to make a playmat for my 8 week old as I've been inspired by your blog... Keep up your lovely work.

ReplyDeleteHow generous! Thank you for offering these! :) Please count me in.
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm not eligible (US resident) I just wanted to say this is some nice material you are giving away. Your room looks nice!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of you that you are giving away those wonderful fabrics! I can't play, now wished i lived in Australia! ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I keep meaning to photograph the nursery, but it never looks as good as I would like it to either. (PS - I'm not commenting to be in the running, since I'm from the US :-)
ReplyDeletegreat giveaway!
ReplyDeletehow crazy is this heat!?
PS your sewing room looks good to me, mine looks like a fabric explosion!
yay! i'm excited so many people can use this fabric, it's sure to get a nice, useful home : )
ReplyDeleteanna, re:the cork board, my husband works at a hospital and brought this home from work for me. i don't know what the material is called, it's sort of like super soft MDF board. he cut it to the size i wanted and painted it up. so, that's probably not much help to you but at least you know not to try and search one out in a shop, right? i'll ask him if he knows what the stuff is called when he gets home.
If I don't win the fabric can I move into the sewing room instead, so jealous. That bookcase is fab!
ReplyDeletesuch lovely stuff! If I win will I be obliged to clear some stuff out of my craft room too?? Yours looks insanely neat in comparison!
ReplyDeleteWould love any of them what a fabulous giveaway! Susan
ReplyDeleteEither bundle looks great - fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteOur studios are so similar - my ironing board is part of the furniture - I never bother packing it up.....
ReplyDeleteI wanted to tell you that I posted off a wee package for you yesterday - I hope it arrives safe and sound!

I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your fabric choices.
And would love to be included in this giveaway :)
Beautiful fabric. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog.
I just love reading your blog and I'd be even more stoked to win some vintage fabric! any bundle!! I'm working on a fabric collection for a quilt and that would speed up the fun!! I had to giggle at the bookcase measurement - i may have done the same with a set of ikea shelves!! they found a new spot elsewhere....
ReplyDeletemy sewing space looks exactly the same. i can't seem to put my ironing board down either! thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletea great giveaway and excellent distraction from the heat!
ReplyDeleteThey looks like great bundles of fabric
ReplyDeleteImpulsive purchases, yes I am king! Can sympathise with your situation, and how one problem creates another headache!!! How can you part with some of those beautiful floral prints? Love the yellow and blue floral in the last photo.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm also jealous of your sewing room. Mine is a perennial disaster, and a mix of mine and the Mr's hobbies. And the ironing board, 90% of the time....
ReplyDeleteA lovely bundle of vintage would make me happy, however! I'll cross my fingers....
This is my first visit to your blog- and Hello! a giveawy! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
-Rachel B.
Aren't you lovely! I've been sewing through my stash as it's been too hot to knit and its starting to look quite meagre. Weird!
ReplyDeleteooh sweet fabric love.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite refreshing to cull sometimes, isn't it?
See you this arvo at mixtogether.
I just got new storage in my sewing room and you are inspiring me to deal with the huge pile of fabric that is now directly IN FRONT of said storage... ;)
ReplyDeletei think i see sadie's oobee in there... i love the 50's mod fabric on the top of pic 3. (i know i can't have it).
ReplyDeleteand oh my, if you think you have
a messy sewing room..... no one
will ever see mine but me, and
maybe some family members. maybe.
and only if they really can't live
without seeing it (which would
be pretty odd ?!&!)
so embarrassing.
i'm gonna clean it up soon and will
start putting my fabric up on etsy.
we'll be moving next year and i'm
not dragging all of that fabric to
the states with me.
they all look great. ann
ReplyDeleteI have just lost my sewing space due to renos and a new baby on the way - so some vintage fabric might just help make up for that! Count me in. Kath
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics - no good op shops near where I live to get my own - would love to add some vintage fabric to my collection.... So generous to give such nice fabric away
