grrrrr.

what an absolutely shocking day. grizzly, sad, screaming, unsoothable baby and an internet modem that just decided to completely shit itself out of the blue. add to that some immunisation shots (she's fine but it's still not much fun for either of us) and the fact that it's going to be 3 to 5 BUSINESS days until we get a replacement modem. i'm at some crappy internet cafe at 8:30pm when i'm completely exhausted. and grumpy. reeeeaaaaaallllly grumpy.

I had just one day without a modem and it made me grumpy, so I sympathise. Hope you get connected again very soon.

maybe it's a sign. to slow down. think about nothing but getting you and mae ready for the visit. And take it easy on yourself. I think you're doing a fantastic job - i hope I am half as organised!!!

  7. Dear Leslie,

I have been reading your lovely blog for a while now. I just wanted to comment on little Mae's immunisations. I fully believe in immunisations, don't get me wrong, but they are so dreadfully stressful on the little one's and their mum's. I don't know if it the same here in Australia, but in Canada where all three of my children were born, they would give the babies up to four needles in one sitting!! The anxiety and the screaming was just awful! So by the time I had my third child (she is three now) and I was feeling much more confident as a mum, I would only let them give her one needle at a visit, and then would go back in a month or two for the next needle. The public health nurses always argued with me about it, but I stood my ground. It took a little longer for her to get all her shots, and a few extra visits to the public health nurse, but the reaction to the shot, both on the day and during the week after the shot was minimised a great deal - and besides, to jab a wee little one with a really sharp needle four times is just downright mean!

Please feel free to take or leave this suggestion, as I know you probably get so much advice from other mums, but immunisations are heartbreaking. Poor little Mae.

  10. Boo-urns ... what a serious bummer!!! I know when we were having endless troubles with our internet it was a mega-thorn in my side, and caused me no end of grief. Hope you get everything sorted ASAP, and that Mae is feeling much, much better! Hang in there!

  12. I can relate to this.. Matilda was grumpy for about 3 days after her 4 month immunisations a couple of weeks ago which made me grumpy, which made her more grumpy... and we still have another week to go before we get internet at our new house! congratulations on the homespun article too, i'm going to look out for it tomorrow.
