notes from 40 weeks

40 weeks
looking a tad tired and, er, yellow, but there you have it, folks.

yep, today is my official due date and the wee keating is giving no signs of interest in the world outside my belly. she's still hanging out up high, cutting my oxygen supply low but otherwise, quite comfy. it's funny that i actually feel better this week, mentally and physically, that i have for the past 3 - 4 weeks. after weeks of agony, my back is now 100% better so i'm waddling instead of hobbling, a much better and more dignified way to get around plus pain free so that's always good. it's made a huge difference in my energy levels, i'm actually getting things done now - there's been plenty of sewing, quick local op shop jaunts and framing up the prints i've been collecting for the house. we started moving furniture into the freshly painted nursery on sunday...

nursery setup
our beautifully made vintage cot from ebay, sans mattress as of yet... quickly hemmed curtains using ready made curtain fabric from spotlight after i discovered i didn't have enough of another white and turquoise fabric i wanted to use... playmat i designed based on my fleur toy (a version of this pattern will be available later this year) with a soft, furry center and loops for attaching toys... one of two jen corace letterpress prints ready to hang above the cot tonight (i actually had two of my bibs framed in these ikea frames but really wanted to get these prints out in the open so they'll have to wait for other frames... or just get used as bibs)... and, of course, the handmade cot quilt, finally in it's rightful place.

nursery setup
one end of the sofa bed with framed prints ready to hang above it (frames are all from various op shops, then sanded and spray painted in a lovely off white gloss) plus thrifted quilted cushion cover, dog softie from sooz, elephant from alice apple and knit donut rattle from lark, thrifted vintage magazine rack holding our as yet meager select of kid's books (my how that will change, i'm sure) and previously shown thrifted granny square blanket.

nursery setup
other end of the sofa bed with more prints (i'll detail what is going on the walls once they're up and you can see them better), the baby's first oobee, handmade quilted cushion cover and fuzzy angora cable knit cushion cover peeking out behind it that i made from a thrifted sweater, danish designed horse softie i picked up at a parenthood warehouse sale for an absolute bargain and gorgeous knit throw that shane and i received as a wedding present.

so it's coming together! shane needs to finish the custom made top for the change table and we need to organise the closet a bit before those get revealed but thats where we're at for now and it's making me pleased as punch every time i walk in there : )

What a lucky baby. Her room is so beautiful, warm and welcoming. And you look fantastic! Glad you're getting some relief from the pain, too.

My daughter hung around up high until the last - she ended up coming 10 days past due. I remember sleeping lots during that time! All the very best for the coming days, so very exciting! xo

Good luck with everything when it happens, can't wait to see some photos of your little girl :) Matilda had dropped but we didn't have any other signs that it was about to happen until it did happen... I thought for sure I'd go late, I guess you never know what will happen tomorrow :)
