rifling

vintage ceramics

my delightful, hard working husband extended his vacation time by another week and a half and left for a queensland fishing trip with a buddy not 5 hours after we got home from western australia. as much as i miss him, it's almost a good thing that he's away right now as our coffee/side table currently looks like the above and the couch looks like this:

piles o' fabric

i've been pawing through boxes to sort out what goodies i'll on putting into my new shop* next weekend and all of the above have made the cut! there is stuff EVERYWHERE at the moment and i have heaps of photographing and listing to do this weekend. i've also decided to make the crazy commitment of adding one new softie to my handmade shop each day in november and i'll be following that up with a small edition of special holiday oobees available on december 1st. add to that three custom orders and, yeah, i've got a bit on this coming month! it's all good, though, i'm so happy to have some serious sewing time while shane is away and it's been sooooo fun sorting through stuff that i haven't seen for months.

*important note about my new shop: i've changed the name slightly as a random etsy search revealed that i'd inadvertantly ripped off another shop's name. an artist in michigan has an etsy shop called dead bird and also a vintage shop called dead bird finds (great stuff, by the way). i feel this is a little bit too close for comfort and don't want to be perceived as a copycat so i've changed the name and moved the shop to onegirl gathers. i know, i know, it's still very close but you know when you get a little bit stuck on a name? and then it seems impossible to find anything else? so this is the compromise i've come to. onegirl gathers sounds nice, anyway, sort of like i have a large picnic basket and am skipping my way though the thrift shops...
