one of my favourite design blogs, decor 8, just gave my etsy shop a sweet write up! i'm so beyond flattered and grateful for the press, i really can't tell you. i've already had a nice sale, a few emails and 2 wholesale inquiries from the link so thank you, holly! just wish i was at home so i could stock the shop up, it's looking a bit sad with just three little fleurs now holding fort there : )
speaking of wholesale inquiries, i've been contacted by abut 8 shops in the past six months wanting to stock my soft wares and it's forced me to really think about where i want this "business" to go. or not go. at this point, i just can't face getting back into wholesale. i did it for four years in canada and, although i got to meet some lovely people and was proud to be a part of some very cool stores, it's a lot of work and the deadline just seem daunting to me now. i want to keep making random goodies for fun and not have any real pressures from my craft work. i love the freedom that i can have right now plus there are so many things i want to make and explore with, i can't even keep my own shop stocked! so thank you very much, lovely shops, and i appreciate the votes of confidence so, so much but it's just not for me. right now, anyway. does this mean i'm lazy? well, maybe, but happy, too.
Congrats! I love your blog! Have a wonderful time in C-A-N-A-D-A!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to your post. Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for...especially if you are also trying to hold down a day job. The deadlines can start to make the crafting, not so fun :(
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Leslie!!! And good on you for knowing and sticking with the direction you want to take with your creations, despite the many temptations :-)
ReplyDeleteWish I had spoken to you before I started wholesaling to learn more about your experiences - you are right, it is a lot of work and deadlines sort of take away from the joy of making stuff.
Congrats on being featured on decor8!
ReplyDeleteI too are one of those shops that have been meaning to write to ask about stocking your oobies. Oh de well not to be. I'll have to wait til you get back to Melbourne and be content to hopfully buy one for my son via etsy...Safe travels

Congratulations...I'm so glad your talents are being more widely recognized and that your fan base is growing. I think it takes true courage not to just take every opportunity that comes along, though...I think it's amazing for you to know what makes you happy and be true to it. Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Not doing wholesale makes you smart. Not lazy.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your article. It’s possible to know about it and it will snow me good ways of this topic. This is very nice post! I will bookmark this blog.
