Next year I will tackle the 23 hr trip home with a five year old and two year old twins. Alone. I know I am mad!!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10219040011876382234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30315386.post-41682900123646179032009-08-25T15:40:58.702+10:002009-08-25T15:40:58.702+10:00i have found anywhere from age 1 to age 3 to be HE...i have found anywhere from age 1 to age 3 to be HELL for plane rides, and i've only had to deal with 6-hour flights. 14 hours? plus another leg?!? i think i'd pay the airline to seat me as far away from my family as possible! glad you survived it, and managed some good times/great memories in the process.{kimmymade}https://www.blogger.com/profile/00832504422458012477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30315386.post-42281778956317853712009-08-25T14:51:28.501+10:002009-08-25T14:51:28.501+10:00Congrats on surviving the trip. It sounds like it was a lovely time with family nonetheless. There really is nothing like a big bunch of babysitters who are ready and willing to dote on your little person, and I hope you had a great time. Best wishes for trying to extend those naps (I am battling the same issue right now). Happy Birthday to Mae!grethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00266463738816819059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30315386.post-32853282249529452472009-08-25T14:48:15.063+10:002009-08-25T14:48:15.063+10:00Thank you for sharing your experience. My dad back in Edmonton was diagnosed with ALS a few days after my daughter was born here in the UK... I did that 9 hours to Canada trip at least 6 times in the next year and a half (most of the time alone since my husband couldn't get that much time off). I lost track of the number of times I arrived in (or near) tears and said NEVER AGAIN... but you do!

I think it sounds like you did really well and just for the record... the one time I tried giving Lily something to help her asleep (again prescribed) it went the exact opposite way and she just got totally wired. Anyway, glad you had a nice trip.... it does get easier when they get a bit bigger... we are just about to have baby number two so I am already psyching myself up for travelling with TWO children!!!

Hollyhollynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30315386.post-71331532936082987752009-08-24T23:39:59.329+10:002009-08-24T23:39:59.329+10:00sounds like the trip covered your high and low for...sounds like the trip covered your high and low for your year :) i hate long flights and can't imagine enduring one with a baby in tow. you deserve a mummy medal for not losing your mind :)captain kkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11854877982209038299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30315386.post-85997307598091268912009-08-24T22:27:07.765+10:002009-08-24T22:27:07.765+10:00I've obviously never flown with a baby myself,...I've obviously never flown with a baby myself, but I've heard many a tale of woe from our other pals with youngsters. From all I've heard even a short flight can be a major challenge, let alone an across-the-world trek. I'm just glad that you guys made it back home with your sanity intact, and that you had such a great time with all the folks!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16204671261465792445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30315386.post-18377669443201763222009-08-24T19:55:09.495+10:002009-08-24T19:55:09.495+10:00i must confess i was a little concerned for you af...i must confess i was a little concerned for you after having taken our two to Bali last year on only a 5 hour flight and it being like hell... oh well, home now... we won't be taking any family trips O/S for some years methinks!xacoustitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09070679238064967240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30315386.post-86475154363229759992009-08-24T14:34:17.350+10:002009-08-24T14:34:17.350+10:00There is nothing worse than flying with young chil...There is nothing worse than flying with young children but it does sound like your return trip was a lot nicer! One Flew Overhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12559822709683244056noreply@blogger.com
